Resorts in Guadeloupe
Contrary to the “spirit” of the Caribbean, Guadeloupe is a place where you won’t find all-inclusive resorts…which for many can be quite nice although so people do prefer not to have to worry about the “activities” they are planning while on vacation. However, a lot of travelers prefer to create their own schedule and explore the islands on their own rather than being stuck in a resort.
Tourist season
Just like in the rest of the Caribbean, the dry season – December to May- is the high season, with the busiest and most expensive period being between Christmas and New Year’s. The wet season – June to November – is the low season and thanks to the nice weather year round you can actually benefit from the low prices and visit the islands during summer.
Worth trying
La Caravelle – Club Med Resort
By far the most popular resort in Guadeloupe, it’s also probably the only real all-inclusive. A variety of sports – including tennis and windsurfing – can be practiced within the resort. There are rooms and suites available for the guests and two restaurants.
The all-inclusive package includes accommodation, all sorts of activities, snacks, free drinks and many more. The prices might be quite hefty though: US$4,740 for 2 persons for 7 nights and includes accommodation, meals, non-alcoholic beverages and activities.
Tainos Cottages, Guadeloupe
This retreat in the country side is exactly the opposite of the all-inclusive resort. The village literally “shuts down” in the evening leaving the guests to enjoy a relaxed and quiet night. Perfect if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the every day life. There are 7 cottages to choose from. During the high season (Dec 18 – March 6) the price per day is €300 euros for a cottage, for 2 persons, breakfast included. During the shoulder season (March 7 – May 14) the price is €200 per day per cottage, same conditions.
Habitation Grande Anse, Deshaies
Habitation Grande Anse is a 3-star hotel, well hidden behind a lush forest and located at just 300 m from Grande Anse beach.
