Hotels in the Dominican Republic
The majority of the hotels in the Dominican Republic are part of huge resorts where guests can do a lot of things, from relaxing at the pool, to playing various sports. You can also find small hotels but those are generally located in the cities and not on the beaches. Prices will be lower here but you’ll have a bit of a head-ache getting to the beaches and other hot spots on the island.
Climate and tourist season
The country’s climate is tropical maritime, with little variation in temperature from season to season. However, the rainfall varies from season to season. Dominican Republic is located right in the middle of the Hurricane Belt which means it can be severely affected by tropical storms between June and November.
The high season lasts between December and April with the highest prices being during Christmas and New Year’s. The low season coincides with the tropical storms season, when many hotels close down in order to prevent major damages during the storms. Prices are low but the chances of ruining your vacation if a storm hits are very high.
