Hotels in Cuba

Hotels in Cuba range from cheap 2 star ones to expensive all inclusive 5 star hotels located right smack on the beach. But eve the expensive ones can be quite affordable especially during the low season.

Climate and tourist season

As all of the Caribbean islands, Cuba experiences two season: rainy and dry. The dry season – November to April – is characterized by sunny days and a daytime temperature averaging 75-80 F. In January and February though, it can get bit colder and generally the temperature swings rather dramatically during the day. The rainy season – March to October – experiences milder weather and a dry spell in August. This is also the hottest month in Cuba. The hurricane season lasts from June to October.

The tourist high season starts in December and ends in March. Especially during Christmas and Easter the beaches are quite full and the prices are rather higher. During the low season you can easily find discounts on everything: flights, rooms, car rentals. The resorts aren’t that crowded either.

Pinar del Río

Finca La Guabina

This 2 star hotel is located rather close to Pinar del Rio city. It is enclosed between the forest, a lagoon and a valley, offering the perfect opportunity to go hiking, horseback riding and enjoying the sun. This is a great eco-hotel located in the countryside. Prices start at US$70 (€45) per night for a standard room but the hotel books up really quickly so make sure to book well in advance.

Jardines del Rey

Sol Cayo Santa María

This all inclusive 4 star resort stands in the middle of a biosphere reserve, overlooking a beautiful white beach. It is the perfect place to soak in the sun or go scuba diving. It’s a romantic resort ideal if you want to surprise your loved one. The all inclusive plan includes all the meals, drinks, access to gym, spa, sauna and the possibility to play different sports. A standard double room costs US$225 (€143) per night during the low season.

Havana

Plaza Hotel

This 3 star hotel is symbol of elegance. Located right in the capital, it has a long history of catering for the posh travelers. All rooms are equipped with AC and have a balcony. During the low season there are plenty of offers available (even a 38% discount!). In May and June expect to pay about US$55 (€35) per night for a standard room while during July and August, the same room costs about US$75 (€48) per night.
