Hotels in Bonaire
Although a tiny island, Bonaire doesn’t lack places to sleep. There are a lot of hotels which cater for the tourists.
Climate and tourist season
Bonaire has great weather year round most because of its location close to the equator. The average temperature year round is about 85 F and the humidity as about 76%. The winds blow strongest in February, March and June.
Because it’s a tiny island, it’s impossible to relay on the weather forecast. Just assume that you’ll have sun most of the time – and don’t forget your sun lotion! -, some fluffy clouds and a shower once in a while.
The high season starts right before Christmas and ends in April. That’s when the prices are at their highest. Avoid it in order to save some money both on airfare to Bonaire and accommodation.
Worth trying
Bruce Bowker’s Carib Inn
Owned by an American, this is the most intimate diving resort in Bonaire. There is a kitchenette in every room. Each room has a shower but not all have a bath tub. It’s one of the hotels you won’t find if you use a travel agent! And most importantly, book well in advance if you plan to stay here during winter. Prices do not change according to season. All year round prices start at US$119 per night for a studio (max 2 persons), US$159 per night for a 2 bedroom apartment (max 4 persons) and US$189 per night for a 3 bedroom house (max 4 persons).
Harbour Village Bonaire
This is an exclusive complex and probably the most stylish in Bonaire. Aimed at the divers who prefer a more “serious” atmosphere, the resort offers guest rooms equipped with air-conditioning and deluxe toiletries. Within the resort there are 2 bars, a restaurant, a pool, 4 tennis courts and many other facilities. During winter (high season) expect to pay US$365-US$395 per night for a double room and US$805-US$855 per night for a 2 bedroom suite. During summer prices start at US$265-US$285 per night for a double room and US$645 per night for a 2 bedroom suite. Children under 16 can stay for free in the same room as their parents.
Bellafonte Chateau de la Mer
This hotel also offer elegant rooms but lacks most of the facilities the large resorts have. It does have a pool though. It’s quite popular among divers and surfers. There’s a dive shop within the resort. During winter (high season) expect to pay US$130-US$270 per night for a double room and US$270-US$310 per night or a 2 bedroom suite. During summer prices start at US$95-US$195 per night for a double room and US$225-US$255 per night for a 2 bedroom suite.
