Flamenco Beach (Playa Flamenco)
Flamenco Beach is located on the small island of Culebra, Puerto Rico which is located just east of the main island of Puerto Rico. Flamenco Beach is the most popular beach on the island because of its soft white sands and beautiful blue waters. It is known as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
How to Get There
To get to the island of Culebra you can either take a flight aboard Air Culebra from San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport or you can take a ferry from Fajardo which runs twice a day. To get to one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Flamenco Beach, you can catch public transportation from outside the airport or just off for the ferry dock for the small price of just 2.00.
What to Expect
Expect the most beautiful beach in all of Puerto Rico. The beautiful white sands, breathtaking blue Caribbean waters, and colorful coral reefs will take your breath away. There are very small kiosks on the beach that sell pretty cheap food and drinks, but they are only seasonal so you may want to take along food and drink just in case. There is a campground located right on the beach that is known as the world’s most beautiful campground.
The beach is also home to historic military equipment and is protected by the Marine Wildlife reserve.
There are no motorized water sports permitted at Flamenco Beach so you can be certain that your experience will be quiet and pleasant.
Average Costs
The most costly part of the trip will be the flight from San Juan to the Island. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes and averages around 40-80 dollars depending on the time of year. If you are planning on taking the ferry you can expect a round trip cost of about 5.00 but it will take one to one and half hours to reach the island from mainland Puerto Rico.
The campground costs on average 10.00 a night. Most food and drink on the beach are relatively cheap. Other costs to consider are the public transportation needed to get to the beach.
